AAC Champions 2003 Prince George

2006 AAC Regional Team

Brianne Davis and Michael Hofstra at the AAC National Trials in Prince George B.C.

We left for Prince George on Tuesday Evening, not knowing what to expect. We have been to quite a few local trials in the last couple of years but never to one of this magnitude. We arrived in Prince George on Thursday Afternoon. The preliminaries didn't start until Friday, but already the stadium was buzzing with people. The Prince George Top Dogs Agility Club had all of the Tents & Agility Rings set up and one of the members was there to welcome us and help us get settled in.

The Massey Place Stadium was an awesome setting for this event. The grass that the competitors were to run on put my lawn to shame. Thursday Night the host committee put the lights on in the stadium. As you will see by the pictures, it was a beautiful sight. When they got down to the fun games & the Friday Qualifying runs, some spectators began to trickle in, but on the weekend, the competitors were running in front of 2500 enthusiastic spectators.

You could tell when something exciting or funny was happening, just by listening to the crowd. You could see how well this event was promoted & supported by the Prince George people. As always, the spirit of sportsmanship & fair play was front and center, and the competitors didn't disappoint. We had very strong showings from our Regional Team and were especially proud of our D&S members who all had very competitive weekends.

As for Brianne, this was an experience of a lifetime for her and Shadow. To go to your first nationals as the youngest competitor and walk away with a Fifth Place Ribbon overall in her division was outstanding. We owe Diane & Shirley a great deal of thanks for the time & patience they put in with Brianne & Shadow and for the support that they gave to the whole team.

In closing, the Prince George Top Dogs Agility Club needs to be congratulated for running a first rate event that will be very difficult to top (unless it comes to Saskatoon in 2005).
